During my visit to Vidsel I stayed in one of the nice little “stugor”. The area is fantastic – as we saw when we had a barbecue together at Storforsen. I experience Sandra & Sven as very professional and look forward to further creative collaboration with them!

Sandra and Sven have been renting out cottages and vacation homes to tourists and corporate clients since 2009. Some years ago they also started to ouffer languages courses: in group or individual training. For both, they put together programs according to the particpants’ wishes – with a suitable mix of language lessons and activities.
Another great thing: You can stay in the cottages where the lessons take place!
Classes are held in one of the cottages (20 to a maximum of 400 meters from the course room) – if you wish, in your own.
The focus is on activities and experiences in nature. The language course complements this offer.
- Level: The classes are aimed at beginners and advanced beginners, i.e. participants who have knowledge at approximately levels A1 and A2 of the European Framework of Reference.
- Participants: The lessons take place as individual or pair lessons or in small groups with a maximum of 8 participants.
- Course schedule:
– Individual or pair lessons: by request and agreement
– Small groups: e.g. 4 weekdays lessons from 9:00-13:00 including a variable break = 20 lessons (of 45 minutes) per week - Scope of teaching: by arrangement
- Lesson content: Ther lessons focus on speaking – learning to speak and daring to speak. Basic grammar chapters are introduced, repeated and practiced. Intercultural topics (e.g. about Swedish society, nature, literature and music) are also part the lessons.
- Teaching material: The material is included in the price.

You will stay in typical Swedish houses with the beautiful names Villa Majringen, Villa Elsy, Villa Tall and Villa Gården. The accommodations offer plenty of space (134-210 sqm) and each has one single and three double rooms. Almost all accommodations have a sauna, a garden and a veranda.
All houses have a fully equipped kitchen. A small supermarket is about 800 m away and there are several restaurants in the vicinity. Sandra & Sven are also happy to help with the selection of local ingredients (e.g. reindeer meat or berries from the surrounding forests) or give tips on cooking Swedish food.
Vacation following the language course
Before or after the language course you are welcome to spend your vacation in one of the beautiful vacation homes. If you come as a family or couple and only one of you wants to do the lessons, this is of course also possible. There are many possibilities to spend your vacations in and around Vidsel!
In summer and autumn:
- hiking, swimming in the river Piteälv (bathing place approx. 800 m away) or in various lakes in the surroundings
- fishing (fishing permits available in the village; guided tours at extra charge)
- rental of canoes, rowing boat or SUP; guided canoe tours (extra charge)
- horse riding
- berry picking, jam making (Sandra & Sven are happy to help)
- visit to Arctic Glas in Arvidsjaur
- visit to Treehotel in Harads
- sauna (available in almost all houses)
In Winter:
- cross-country and downhill skiing
- dog or snowmobile tours, snowshoe and northern lights tours
- visit to Artic Glas in Arvidsjaur
- sauna (available in almost all houses)
Either come with your own car, by train or by plane. Tip: SAS flight to Stockholm Arlanda and connecting flight to Luleå.
From/to Luleå airport the hosts offer a shuttle service (price on request) or provide rental cars there on request. They can also book your flights for you (advance payment), of course after discussing the dates in detail.

Now our vacation is already over again. We have enjoyed our time (vacation and language course) in Vidsel very much! Thank you for the organization and care here on site! We also enjoyed the barbecue trip to Storforsen! This is certainly not our last time in northern Sweden!

In the summer of 2018, three of us took a one-week language course with Sven and stayed at Villa Gården in Vidsel for that week. The lessons in the small group were very intensive. Sven always took a lot of time for us. He responded to our current language level and trained our listening comprehension. We were able to use and expand on what we had learned during our further vacation in Sweden.
Villa Gården is lovingly and homely furnished. After the personal welcome from Sven and Sandra, we immediately felt at home and enjoyed our time in the Swedish cottage very much. Sandra and Sven always had good tips for excursions. A highlight at the end was the barbecue with Sven, Sandra and Siljan. Thank you very much for the great time!

In mid-July we had a wonderful week at Lilla Huset. We were very happy to meet you and to learn a lot about the country and its people. Also the three-day language course in private lessons … has brought me a bit further in my language and listening comprehension. In the evening my head was smoking but I felt very comfortable at all times and would definitely do it again. You do everything there with a lot of heart and joy. Thank you for the flexible organization of the language course, the tips and information, the great Lilla Huset, the uncomplicated contact and so on.
Yes, and also nice was that we were allowed to meet Sandra and Siljan on the last day. The trip to Storforsen was very impressive and we also had quite a fun time together.

… I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the absolutely professionally designed and very well prepared language course. The individually prepared 20-hour training included listening to and discussing the latest news, reading and understanding individual reports of the daily newspaper, appropriately selected working texts, including the appropriate grammar, and the necessary dose of humor, peppered with anecdotes and experiences of the two on their „trip to Sweden“. Extremely valuable tips and advice for me as a „newcomer“ here in Lapland, was free on top!
My impression: Sandra and Sven do what they do with passion and heart and soul! You can see that, you can feel that, that comes… I was allowed to learn so much, THANK YOU for everything, I’ll be back!

Hello Sven and Sandra,
we were for the 2nd time in Villa Majringen. This time a total of 5 weeks in July-August 2016, as I enjoyed a study vacation in northern Sweden. We are very excited about the professionalism with which Sven and Sandra looked after us, how the house is very well maintained. Och jag kan bara rekommandera Sven som svensklärare!
