I already know the school director from the time she worked for OBS! in Munich. And I am very glad about the cooperation with her school in Malmö – with an exciting offer: contacts to local companies!
Ute Störiko, Head of OBS!

The director of the school Maria studied Swedish, German and Greek and has many years of teaching experience – both in Germany and Sweden. Her colleague – also Maria! – teaches both English and Swedish.
In all courses, the teaching of language skills is combined with cultural knowledge. Each participant should learn at his/her own pace and have fun doing it – only in this way can you really use and enjoy your time in Sweden!
The courses offered range from everyday Swedish to business Swedish, adapted to the needs and wishes of the participants. The school focuses on spoken language, so you will be able to use your Swedish after the first few lessons. If you have previous knowledge from other courses, this will be purposefully built upon.
The group courses are held in small groups with a maximum of 6 participants to guarantee you a pleasant and efficient learning atmosphere.
The school belongs to our premium language schools: here you will find high-quality courses with specially trained staff, suitable for people who want to learn in a targeted way (e.g. professionals).
Malmö is the third largest city in Sweden, the most important city in southern Sweden and the capital of the province of Skåne (German: Schonen). The city connects Sweden with Denmark and thus with the continent. Copenhagen can be reached in about half an hour by the Öresundståg, which runs every 20 minutes. The famous and venerable university town of Lund is only 17 km away.
Malmö offers a mixture of big city and cozy small town. There is a rich cultural offer, sports and shopping opportunities. In addition, Malmö is known as a colorful food mecca.
The city’s landmark is the Turning Torso, built in 2005, and at 190 meters high, it is the tallest building in Northern Europe.
The courses take place very centrally at Malmö’s Stortorget and/or at Limhamns Sjöstad, 4.9 km from Malmö Centralstation (Central Station). Tea, coffee and fruits are always available on the premises.
The Swedish courses take place as group courses or individual/pair lessons. They are suitable for beginners and advanced learners (Level A1 to C2 of the European Framework of Reference).
Group courses: In the courses you will learn practical phrases for typical situations (e.g. ordering in a café or restaurant and finding your way around Malmö), basic grammar and pronunciation rules. In the Intensive Course, classes are held Monday-Friday mornings, and in the Extra-Intensive Course, classes are also held in the afternoon.
Teaching style: The courses are practice-oriented and effective. From the first lesson, the focus is on speaking: communicating in everyday situations, dialogue training (e.g. origin, important questions, numbers/times, café and restaurant visits) and intercultural knowledge. This is supported by a good basis in grammar and vocabulary.
Teachers: You will learn with experienced and qualified native speakers.
Extra teaching material is included.
Language of instruction is usually Swedish; in beginner courses German is used to explain grammar.
Homework supplements every lesson so that it consolidates and trains what has been learned.
You will receive a certificate of attendance after your course indicating the level you have reached according to the European Framework of Reference (A1-C2).
Cancellation Policy: You can cancel your registration free of charge up to 30 days before the start of the course. After that, a fee of 50% of the course fee will be due. If you have already paid the course fee and/or the course has started, you are obliged to pay the course fee in full and there will be no refund of the course fee (except in justified exceptional cases).
Due to the Corona pandemic, you can currently enrol without paying. However, you will receive a notification at least 30 days before the start of the course whether the course will take place as scheduled or not.
Complementing your language lessons, you can experience the local economy: The school specializes in arranging contacts with Malmö companies. These offer, for example, business breakfasts, lectures on selected topics, book presentations, strategic talks on politics and economics, etc. As a language student you can attend these events, listen to lectures, participate in debates, talk in small groups with employees and entrepreneurs, present yourself and ask questions about Swedish working life. (Questions and conversations are prepared in advance in class.) This way you can make important contacts for your professional and working life!
This offer must pause during the Corona restrictions.

On Fridays, a joint excursion is possible in consultation with the participants. Sometimes the school arranges a Språkcafé (language café) or a picnic in the summer.
Examples of excursions and activities:
- Malmö Slott (castle) and surroundings, followed by lunch at the Fiskehoddorna
- a bike tour through Malmö (e-bike or normal bike)
- rent a boat and sail through Malmö on the canals
- get to know the new „in“ sport of Sweden with Maria: padel
Often the students do something together after the classes or on the weekends to get to know the city and practice their Swedish at the same time. The school is happy to provide tips for activities and sightseeing.
The accommodation and arrival you choose according to your wishes. Our partner travel agency SkandAktiv, which specializes in trips to Scandinavia, will be happy to advise you on how to get there. Let us make you an offer without obligation!

about the lessons in the language school in Malmö:
I booked 2 weeks of language lessons with Maria in August 2021. I was completely blown away by the enthusiasm, energy and commitment with which Maria taught us the Swedish language. The individual lessons in the last week were so intensive and stimulating that I now have a very good basis to realize my move from Germany to Sweden thanks to her competence as a language teacher and her helpfulness regarding questions about important Swedish everyday topics. Thanks again for the great time!
I. K., 17.8.2021
What’s special about Maria’s way of teaching is that she specifically encourages you – and knows when to challenge you. For example, some time ago she sent me a Swedish newspaper article about the election in Germany at the time, with comprehension and grammar exercises and the request: „Explain to me what’s happening!“ At the time, that was a big challenge for me, really took me out of my comfort zone. And then a lot changed in a short time: I was able to write and speak much more freely in Swedish, quickly becoming more and more confident. So confident that I dared to take the Tisus certificate this fall – and passed.
